The handballers and handbalsters of HV Volendam head into the winter break with a hint of disappointment after both teams suffered defeats in their last matches of 2024.
The men's team faced a tough blow as they lost to BEVO, derailing their pursuit of the league leaders Aalsmeer. Despite coach Geert Hinskens' efforts, Volendam struggled against BEVO and were unable to contain spelmaker Julian Mumme. The first half ended with a significant gap of 20-12, and Volendam faced further setbacks with a red card for Robin Nagtegaal. Oskar Schöll's goal-scoring efforts sparked a brief comeback, narrowing the lead to four points, but they ultimately fell short with a final score of 33-27, now trailing Aalsmeer by four points.
